The East Valley Adult Resources facility provides daily activities and lunchtime meals to empower older adults to remain independent and engaged in the community. Nourishing meals for the Meals on Wheels program are also prepared at the center.
The modernized ADA compliant Senior Center now provides a warmer home-like feeling. Flooring was upgraded from ceramic tile and carpet to luxury vinyl tile with a wood appearance. Dark, previously painted, ceiling tiles and grid were replaced with fresh white ceiling tiles and the grid was painted white. A higher reflective ceiling color along with new LED light fixtures dramatically increased the lighting levels in the facility.
The Café, a focal point at the front entrance, was updated with an expanded seating area adjacent to the Café with additional glass for visual connection. The outdated walk-in cooler and freezer were replaced, and the dry storage space was reconfigured for efficiency. The kitchen beverage station was reconfigured from the Multi-purpose room into the Kitchen. Residential style ceiling fans were replaced with low-speed high velocity fans to provide better air circulation without chilling occupants. The wood flooring was refinished in the multi-purpose space along with replacing the suspended ceiling and lights. The HVAC and fire alarm systems were upgraded to meet current codes and provide increased efficiency and maintainability.
